The principle of Q-switched 532nm and 1064nm lasers is the theory of selective photothermolysis, which is the foundation of all treatments. This allows the laser to precisely target pigment particles with energy within an extremely short time (nanoseconds) without damaging surrounding normal tissue. This is the Q swtich nd yag laser technology we usually say.
1064nm: Deeper penetration depth, used for treating nevus of Ota, removing dark tattoos (black, blue), hair removal (targeting hair follicle melanin), and skin rejuvenation.
532nm: Shallower penetration depth, mainly used for treating superficial pigmented lesions (such as freckles, café-au-lait spots), removing red/yellow tattoos, and treating vascular lesions (such as telangiectasia).
The theory on pigment removal is that The pulse duration (pulse width) of a Q-switched laser is extremely short (nanosecond level), releasing energy instantaneously. This causes the target pigment particles to heat up rapidly, resulting in “thermal expansion-mechanical explosion,” shattering them into extremely small fragments.
Subsequently, the body’s immune system (mainly macrophages) gradually engulfs and eliminates these fragmented pigment particles as “metabolic waste,” expelling them from the body through the lymphatic system, thus gradually fading and eliminating the pigmentation.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works?
The picosecond laser has become the gold standard treatment for across all colors of tattoo removal.
By creating a very short high energy pulse, the tattoo ink is thermo-acoustically broken up into minute particles that the body can readily absorb. As the laser attacks the tattoo, a light grey ”frosting” appears on the tattoo, a signal that the appropriate energy was applied and the removal process will begin.
Superficial lesions can be treated most effectively with the 532nm wavelength, while the 1064nm wavelength can be used to target deeper lesions.

As we all know about the “Black Doll” laser skin rejuvenation technique. Our machine is actively Q-switched, the spot size is already 10mm. Only ordinary ND YAG machines are equipped with a 1320nm head because the spot size is too small; using the 1320nm head would enlarge the spot size and reduce the energy density. Our system’s energy and spot size are sufficient, so generally, the 1320nm head is not needed.
